A major 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit Maule, Chile on Sunday, March 25, 2012, at 22:37:06 UTC, at a depth of 34.8 km (21.6 mi).  This is the fourth major (> 5.9) earthquake to hit in the last five days.  Throughout history, there have never been as many major earthquakes with such frequency on record, as we see happening within the last year.
